MARQUEE PRIVACY POLICY
Effective September 30, 2026

Marquee shows showtimes at Portland's independent and pub-style movie
theaters, and lets you say which ones you're going to. It's built around
one promise: we know how many people are going to a showing. We don't
know who.


1. NO ACCOUNTS

Marquee has no sign-up and no login. It never asks for your name, email
address, or phone number.


2. WHAT THE APP STORES

- A random device ID. Created on your phone the first time you open the
  app. It is not your Apple ID or an advertising identifier, and it isn't
  tied to your name or email. Reinstalling the app creates a new,
  unrelated ID.

- Your "I'm Going" picks. Stored against your device ID. Other people only
  ever see a total count, never a list of who is going - unless you turn
  on "Show my name on who's going" yourself, or you've shared your picks
  with a friend.

- Your "reels" ratings. Stored against your device ID. Others see only
  the average.

- An optional nickname. If you choose one, it's shown to friends you've
  added. A separate optional Reel Talk nickname is shown in the public
  chat; without one you appear as an anonymous "Reel #" handle.

- Friend connections. Created only when you share your private friend
  code or accept a friend request. You can remove friends at any time.

- Blocks. If you block someone, that's recorded so their messages and
  friend requests stay hidden from you.

- Reel Talk chat messages. Messages you post are public to everyone using
  the app and disappear from the app after 48 hours. They may be kept on
  our server after that for moderation (for example, to review a report).
  A reported message is hidden immediately.

- In-app notifications. Friend activity (like a friend's pick) is kept in
  your in-app notification inbox.


3. WHAT THE APP NEVER ASKS FOR

- Your location. The map is simply centered on Portland.
- Your contacts, browsing history, health, or financial information.
- Your photo library.


4. PERMISSIONS

- Camera: only to scan a friend's QR code. Nothing is recorded or
  uploaded.
- Calendar: write-only, to add a showtime to your calendar when you ask.
  Marquee cannot read your existing calendar.


5. NO TRACKING, NO AD NETWORKS, NO ANALYTICS

Marquee may show promotional flyers and calendar ads for local film events,
placed directly by Marquee. They are the same for everyone and never use
your data. Marquee has no ad networks, no analytics or tracking SDKs, and
never sells or shares your data for advertising.


6. THIRD PARTIES

- Supabase stores the app's data (showtimes, picks, ratings, friends,
  chat).
- Movie poster images are loaded directly from the theaters' own
  websites, and "Tickets/more info" opens the theater's site. Those sites
  receive the standard information any web request includes, such as your
  IP address, under their own privacy policies.


7. DELETING YOUR DATA

Open the Friends screen and tap "Erase my data". This deletes everything
stored on our server for your device - picks, ratings, nickname, friends,
blocks, chat messages, and notifications - and gives your phone a fresh,
unrelated device ID. Deleting the app also removes your device ID from
your phone. You can also email us to ask for deletion.


8. CHILDREN

Marquee is not directed at children under 13.


9. CHANGES

If this policy changes in a way that affects what's collected or how it's
used, the effective date above will change.
